We’ll start by visiting Cape Spartel and the Hercules Cave. Then, we’ll traverse the Rif mountains, visit the captivating blue city of Chefchaouen, and discover the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. You’ll explore Fes and Meknes, wander through the picturesque town of Ifrane resembling Switzerland, and venture into the beautiful Cedars forest. Experience camel rides and witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets in the enchanting Sahara desert at Merzouga. Discover the wonders of the Merzouga Sahara and explore the stunning Todra and Dades gorges. We’ll cross the High Atlas mountains and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass before reaching Marrakech. Finally, our remarkable journey concludes in Casablanca.
1st day : Arrival to Tangier – Chefchaouen
on the first day of your 10-day Morocco trip starting from Tangier, we’ll come get you from where you’re staying, the airport, or the port in Tangier. Tangier is called “the bride of the north” and sits in the northwest where the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean meet at Cape Spartel.
We’ll start by exploring the city, seeing the cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel. You’ll have time for lunch. Then, we’ll drive towards Chefchaouen, passing through Tetouan and the Rif mountains. We’ll stop along the way so you can enjoy the wide views. Finally, we’ll take you to your place to stay in Chefchaouen, where you’ll spend the night in a hotel.
2nd day : Sightseeing Chefchaouen the blue city
After having breakfast, our 10-day holiday in Morocco continues with a visit to Chefchaouen, also known as Achaoun, meaning ‘horns’ in Berber. This city is nestled in the Rif mountains in northwest Morocco. It’s well-known for its buildings and narrow streets painted in blue and white. First, we’ll take a leisurely walk in the charming old Medina, where you’ll find lots of beautiful blue doors. You’ll have some free time for lunch. Later in the afternoon, if you like, you can hike up to the Spanish mosque situated on high ground. From there, you’ll get an amazing view of the entire blue city. You’ll stay overnight at the same hotel.
3rd day : Chefchaouen – the Roman ruins of Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
After you’ve had breakfast, take some time to explore the lovely narrow streets of Chefchaouen. Then, we’ll drive to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. These ruins are really well preserved and are considered a very important place by UNESCO. You’ll see beautiful mosaics, ancient pillars, and archways scattered around. After checking out the ruins, we’ll drive about 30 kilometers to visit one of the imperial cities, Meknes, which used to be the Ismaili capital. We’ll see important places there like Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Then, we’ll head to Fes where you’ll stay overnight in a traditional riad.
4th day : guided tour sightseeing Fes
We’ll come to get you from where you’re staying in Fes after breakfast, to show you around the city. Fes is an important city in Morocco, known as one of the imperial cities and a big center for culture and religion.
We’ll start by checking out the Royal Palace gate. After that, we’ll head to the old part of the city, which is really old and well-kept – it’s even considered a very special place by UNESCO. The Blue gate, called Bab Boujloud, is the entrance to this old part of the city. With the help of a local guide, you’ll explore the Medina and see places like The Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, the Tanneries, and the Quaraouin mosque and university – which is the oldest university in the world. After that, we’ll leave the Medina and visit the Jewish area called ‘the Mellah.’ Then, we’ll drive to an old fortress to see amazing views of the city and the Medina. Finally, we’ll take you back to your riad.
5th day : Fes – Ifrane – Cedars forest- Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga Sahara
After breakfast, our 10-day Morocco trip keeps going towards the south through Imouzzer. We’ll visit Ifrane, known for its chilly weather, snow, and houses that look like those in the Alps. That’s why people call it the Switzerland of Morocco. Then, we’ll head to the cedars forest, where Barbary macaques live. You can even give them some food while you explore the forest. Later on, we’ll go to Midelt, where you’ll have some free time for lunch. After that, we’ll drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and go along the Ziz valley, stopping to enjoy the views.
In the afternoon, we’ll get to the Sahara desert in Merzouga. There, you’ll hop on camels and cross the sandy desert, stopping on a tall dune to see the sunset. After that, we’ll head to a camp that’s a mix of traditional nomadic tents and the comfort of a hotel. You can listen to Berber drum music, dance around the campfire, and see the vast open sky full of stars. You’ll stay overnight in the camp.
6th day : Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – palm grove
After breakfast, we’re exploring the Merzouga region for the day. This area has lots of amazing places to see, like sand dunes, a wild lake, places with fossils, and beautiful oases. These places are perfect for lots of outdoor activities. Our trip begins in Merzouga, where we’ll drive off-road to see an old mine. Then, we’ll visit nomads who live in tents they made themselves and learn about their way of life while having some Berber tea.
Next, we’ll head to Khamlia village, where you can enjoy Gnaoua music and dancing shows. People who live there come from countries in sub-Saharan Africa like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. You’ll have some free time for lunch at a restaurant. After that, we’ll take a walk in a grove filled with palm trees. Then we’ll drive a bit to see the wild lake in Merzouga, also known as the flamingo lake. Finally, we’ll head back to Merzouga for dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
7th day : Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Waking up early in the morning to catch the beautiful sunrise is a must! Then, you’ll have some free time for breakfast. After that, we’ll leave the desert and head to Rissani town, which was once the capital of Tafilalet. Rissani is still an important place for trade in the area, especially on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays when there’s a big market called a souk. We’ll take a walk around the lively Rissani market and then move on to Erfoud, where we’ll visit a workshop that makes things out of fossilized marble.
Later on, we’ll drive through palm groves in Touroug and Tinjdad until we get to the Todra Gorges. The Todra River carved a huge canyon in the mountains, and it’s a great spot for rock climbers because of the tall red cliffs. You’ll have time to explore the gorges and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Then, we’ll have some free time for lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, we’ll keep going to the Dades valley, passing by the ‘monkey fingers’ rock formation and a spot on a mountain where you can see the Dades valley from above. We’ll have dinner and stay overnight in a hotel.
8th day : Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Palm Groves of Skoura – Ouarzazate Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah- Telouet – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After having breakfast, we keep going on our trip to Kalaa Magouna to see the Rose Valley. Every May, there’s a Rose Festival where locals sell lots of rose products like perfumes, rose water, oils, and cosmetics. Then, we’ll drive through Skoura’s palm groves and visit the Amredhyle Kasbah. Next stop is Ouarzazate, where we’ll see the studios where many famous movies were filmed. We’ll also visit the Taourirt Kasbah.
After that, we’ll head to the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, which is like a big old fort and is really special – it’s even recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This place has been in lots of movies like Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and TV shows like Game of Thrones. Then, we’ll visit the Telouet Kasbah. Finally, we’ll head to Marrakesh, going through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains. We’ll stop for lunch and take pictures at interesting spots along the way. You’ll stay overnight in a Riad in Marrakesh.
9th day : Guided tour sightseeing Marrakesh
After enjoying a nice breakfast, we’ll explore the best parts of Marrakesh with the help of a local guide. This city is one of the important ones in Morocco. We’ll visit special places like the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Quranic mosque. Also, we’ll walk around the biggest traditional market in Morocco. You’ll have some free time to grab lunch near the Jemaa El-Fna square. Later, we’ll see the Koutoubia mosque, the biggest one in Marrakesh, and the beautiful Majorelle garden. Then we’ll take you back to where you’re staying. If you want, you can explore the Jemaa El-Fna square on your own.
10th day : Casablanca airport
After you’ve had breakfast, we’ll come to get you from where you’re staying in Marrakesh. Depending on when your flight is, we’ll drive to Casablanca. If we have enough time, we might visit the Hassan II mosque. Then, we’ll take you to the airport. That’s the end of your 10-day trip around Morocco from Tangier.
