4-Day Tangier to Chefchaouen Tour – Cities, Mountains, and the Blue Medina

After breakfast, we drive to Meknes. It doesn't get as much attention as Fes or Marrakech, but its gates and old ramparts are worth the stop. From Meknes, it's a short ride to Volubilis, the Roman ruins where you can still walk over mosaic floors that are close to two thousand years old.

By late afternoon we reach Fes. This part of the Tangier Chefchaouen itinerary is where the trip slows down a little, giving you time to settle in before a full day exploring the city tomorrow. Overnight in a riad in the medina.

Fes has one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world, and a single day barely scratches the surface. You'll walk through the old medina, past tanneries, wood workshops, and metal souks that have worked more or less the same way for centuries. A local guide points out the madrasas, gates, and viewpoints that are easy to miss on your own.

This is the heart of the trip for anyone who came for history rather than scenery. Overnight again in Fes.

The final leg of this Tangier to Chefchaouen excursion cuts north through the Rif Mountains. The landscape shifts fast, from dry plains to green hillsides dotted with small farms.
