Day 1 : Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
The wonderful 6-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga begins at 8 am when we depart from Marrakech heading towards Ouarzazate. As we travel, we’ll cross the Atlas Mountains using the Tizi N’Tichka pass, which stands really high at 2,260 meters above the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop by the Kasbah of Pacha Glaoui in Telouet and pass through several Berber villages until we reach the largest Kasbah in Morocco, the Ait Ben Haddou. It was built by Ethami El Gloui in the 18th century.
This Kasbah has been a setting for many famous movies like Gladiator and The Kingdom of Heaven. Once we arrive at Ouarzazate, you’ll have dinner and spend the night at the hotel. We’ll also visit Movie Studios while we’re there.
Day 2 : Ouarzazate – Agdez – Draa Valley – Tazarine – Gorges of Mharech
After breakfast, we’ll start our day by visiting Touarirt Kasbah. Our journey then takes us through the Zagora mountains in the Anti Atlas, crossing the impressive port of Tizi Tinifift, which stands at 1600 meters high over the Draa Valley. Along the way, you’ll see many Berber villages and their Kasbahs. We’ll pass through places like N’kob, Tarazine, and Alnif before reaching Mharech Gorges, where you’ll spend the night at a hotel. These areas are often part of the Dakar Rally route.
Day 3 : Mharech – Oasis Ramlia – Ouzina dunes – Merzouga
On the third day of our trip, we’ll keep following Dakar Valley’s path, passing through oases, Ouzina’s dunes, and empty riverbeds. Along the way, we’ll visit some quiet Berber villages before we reach Erg Chebbi, Morocco’s biggest desert. There, we’ll enjoy a Saharan Pizza for lunch with Berber locals. After leaving the hotel and getting the necessary gear, we’ll head to camp in the middle of the Sahara desert. That’s where we’ll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 4: Merzouga – Off-road desert tour– Visit the nomads – Merzouga
This day starts with a beautiful sunrise over the dunes in the early morning. Then, we’ll return to the hotel for breakfast and a refreshing shower. Our journey continues to explore Erg Chebbi, where the dunes are more than 250 meters high. We’ll follow the old track of the Dakar Rally.
During our trip, we’ll visit Tissardmin’s oasis and get a glimpse of the nomadic lifestyle by visiting the tents of nomad people. We’ll also stop at Khamlia, a village where Gnawa people, originally from Mali, live. After enjoying mint tea with one of the families and listening to the unique Gnawa music, we’ll head back to the hotel for lunch. You’ll have the afternoon free to enjoy a beautiful sunset and take a walk over the dunes. Dinner will be served at the hotel where you’ll spend the night.
Day 5 : Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
On the next day of your trip, after having breakfast and a shower at the hotel, we’ll visit Rissani, which is an important city in Morocco’s history. We’ll explore Rissani, known for having the biggest traditional markets called Souks. After that, we’ll go to Erfoud, where you’ll visit interesting workshops that handle fossils before reaching the Palmeral of Tafilalet. Our next stop will be Todra Gorges before we finally arrive at Dades Valley, where you’ll have dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Marrakech
After leaving Dades Valley, we’ll travel along the Road of Thousand Kasbahs. Then, our tour continues to Kalaat M’Gouna, known as the Valley of Roses. There’s a famous kasbah in Skoura’s palm groves that we’ll visit. Once we finish exploring this region, we’ll head back to Marrakech. The tour concludes on the 6th day when you reach your accommodation.
