Embark on the 4-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour, where you’ll explore incredible sites in 4 days and 3 nights. Journey through the Atlas mountains, the Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, Ouarzazate city, and the stunning Dades and Todra gorges. Discover the Merzouga Sahara desert and visit Berber villages, taking a camel ride into the heart of the desert. Experience the enchanting sunset and sunrise in the Sahara. Explore the Rissani traditional market, the fossils town of Erfoud, and the Swiss-like town of Ifrane, also visiting the cedar forest home to Barbary macaques. The tour concludes in Fes.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorge
Once we meet you in Marrakech, our tour begins and we head towards Ouarzazate. Our four-day best tour from Marrakech to Fes via the desert starts with a famous path called Tizi N’Tichka, which is 2260 meters high in the Atlas Mountains. As we drive, you’ll see beautiful scenery passing through Berber villages until we reach the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. It’s a big Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Et Hami El Glaoui in the 18th century.
We’ll have lunch at the Kasbah, then continue our journey to Dades Gorges through Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa, and the Road of Thousand Kasbahs where you’ll see impressive sandcastles. Along the way, we’ll stop in Kalaat M’Gouna, also known as the Valley of Roses, famous for its beautiful roses and making rosewater.
Every May, there’s a Festival of Roses in Kalaat M’Gouna. Afterward, when we arrive, you’ll check into our hotel that overlooks the Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga
At the hotel, you’ll have breakfast to start your day. Then, our tour keeps going to explore the Valley. In Dades Valley, there are amazing sand castles, a fascinating rock formation called monkey toes, and the Kasbah of Ait Yul, which attract a lot of tourists.
We’ll continue the tour and visit Todra Gorges, passing through Tinghitr and interesting Berber villages that overlook the valley. Todra Gorges are special canyons made of limestone along a river. They’re the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco, and rock climbers really like them for their sport.
After that, we’ll head towards Erfoud, known for producing lots of dates, and Rissani, where you’ll have lunch. Then, we’ll go to the village of Merzouga, where your guide Youssef lives. Your camels will be ready there. After enjoying some Saharan mint tea, you’ll go to the hotel to check in.
Day 3: Merzouga area and the Camel trek
On the third day of your tour, after having breakfast where you’re staying, you’ll go visit the Village of Khamila where the Gnawa people live. There, you’ll listen to their music and see how they live. Gnawa music is a famous kind of music that includes old African Islamic spiritual songs and rhythms.
Afterward, you’ll go to the famous Lake of Merzouga, home to various birds, like Flamingos. You might also want to visit a nomad’s house, where you’ll receive a warm welcome. They sell beautiful Berber crafts at reasonable prices. Later in the afternoon, you’ll ride camels to explore the amazing sand dunes of Erg-Chebbi. You’ll spend the night in a traditional Berber tent under the starry sky, having dinner and breakfast there.
Day 4 : Merzouga to Fes
Early in the morning, you’ll wake up to see a stunning sunrise over the sand dunes. Then, you’ll ride a camel back to the hotel for a shower and some refreshment. After that, we’ll continue our trip heading to Errachidia through Erfoud and the Ziz Valley, which is known for its palm groves. We’ll stop for lunch in Midelt on the way.
As we travel through the Cedar Forest, the biggest forest in Morocco, you’ll get to see Berber apes. Finally, we’ll arrive at Fez, and that’s where our tour ends.
