Embark on a transformative three-day journey from Marrakech to the mesmerizing Merzouga Desert. Finally, experience the breathtaking dunes of Merzouga, immersing in Berber traditions, camel rides, and the soul-stirring beauty of a desert sunset before returning to Marrakech.
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades
You’ll be picked up from where you’re staying at 8 p.m., whether it’s the Riad or another place. Our journey starts in Marrakech. We’ll travel through a famous mountain pass called Tizi N’Tichka, which is really high up in the High Atlas Mountains (about 2260 meters). Along the way, we’ll see some really cool Berber villages until we get to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This place is super special because it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been in movies like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
We’ll explore the area, walking around the river, The Ksar, and the narrow streets of Ait Ben Haddou. It feels like walking back in time to the Middle Ages. You’ll also see an amazing view of Ounila’s river surrounded by beautiful landscapes.
After a nice lunch, our tour continues to Dades Gorges through places like Ouarzazate, Skoura, and the Valley of Roses, where they celebrate the rose festival in May. Once we reach Boulmane Dades, we’ll head to Dades Valley. Here, you can explore stunning sand castles and a fascinating rock formation called monkey toes, which are really interesting for visitors. At the hotel, we’ll have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Risani – Merzouga (Marrakech Desert Trip)
After eating breakfast in Morocco, we continue a trip to the Merzouga Desert that lasts for 3 days and 2 nights. We travel on the Road of Thousand Kasbahs through the Dades Valley where Berber villages are found. Along the way, we visit Tinghir, known for its many palm trees and beautiful gorges. We also explore Todra, where you can hike cliffs that are over 300 meters high and see more Berber villages. Finally, we arrive at Merzouga, home to the Erg Chebbi, the biggest sand desert in Morocco.
We stop for lunch in Tinejdad/Touroug. Then, we ride camels for about an hour to see the amazing sunset over the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. We sleep in nomadic tents, looking up at the endless stars. At the camp, the team plays drums while you enjoy the experience with the camel guides.
Day 3: Merzouga – Alnif – Tazarine – Agdez – Taourirt Kasbah – Marrakech
You’ll see a magical sunrise over the sand dunes in the morning, then ride camels back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. After that, we head back to Marrakech. Along the way, we’ll pass through Alnif, Tazarine, Draa Valley, Agdez, and Ouarzazate where we’ll stop for lunch and take photos at Touarirt Kasbah. We’ll keep going through the Atlas Mountains, and finally, the Marrakech Desert Trip 3 Days will finish when we arrive in Marrakech.
